Local teens compete for RCPL Teen Idol title
Twenty local teens will compete in RCPL Teen Idol at 6:30 pm on Thursday, October 16 at the Richland County Public Library located at 1431 Assembly St.
2008 Contestants include: Bianca Adams, Southeast Middle School; Jessica Aull, Dutch Fork Middle School; Tuhmahn Campbell- Provo, Dutch Fork Middle School; Joshua Curenton, Lower Richland High School; Felicia Denny, Eau Claire High School; Jessica Doiron, Spring Valley High School; Kiya Fisher, Dreher High School; Kyland Gadson, Lexington Middle School; Katie Inman, Mid-Carolina High School; Claire Lee, Crayton Middle School; Janise Robinson, Ridge View High School; Marie Silver, Cardinal Newman School; Quinton Smith, Lower Richland High School; Jennifer Stanton, Dutch Fork High School; Garrison Stewart, Dutch Fork High School; Nathalie Stewart, Keenan High School; Rebecca Van Meter, Dutch Fork High School; Madeline Warrington, Richland Northeast High School; Sharon Williams, Lugoff- Elgin High School; and Thaddeus Wilson Jr., Columbia High School.
Contestants will be judged on vocal quality, song selection, projection and stage presence, and they will compete for the chance to win a variety of prizes, studio time and the opportunity to sing the National Anthem at a USC basketball game.
"Teen Idol provides a forum for young people to explore their talents and interests while highlighting the variety of nonprint resources—CDs, DVDs and more—available at the library" said Ginger Shuler, RCPL's chief of Youth Services.
Prizes are being provided by RCPL Teen Idol sponsors Geiger O'Cain Advertising and the Colonial Life Arena.
