Carolyn Jeanette Smith, 68, of Powell Rd., Mill Spring, N.C. died Sunday evening, September 14, 2008, in St. Luke's Hospital in Columbus, N.C.

Born in Transylvania County, N.C., she was the daughter of the late Norman and Nellie Allison Sienseng. Mrs. Smith was a member of Lynn First Baptist Church in Lynn, N.C.

Surviving are her husband, Jackson Smith; two sons, Jeffrey Smith of Mill Spring, N.C. and Kevin Smith of Rutherfordton, N.C.; two daughters, Pamela Edwards of Columbia, S.C. and Beth Lucas (Ethan) of Goode, Va; six grandchildren and two great grandchildren. Also surviving are two brothers and two sisters.

A funeral was held at 11 am Thursday, September 18, 2008, in the McFarland Funeral Chapel, Tryon, N.C. with Rev. Jimmy Owens officiating.

Burial was at 2 pm Thursday in Beaver Dam Freewill Baptist Church Cemetery, Candler, NC.

The family received friends Wednesday evening from 6 pm to 7:30 pm at the funeral chapel.
