Nothing motivates like water moccasins
      At one point in the summer of 1989, I was outside of Myrtle Beach standing alone knee deep in water holding a surveyor's pole with a prism at the top. Although I was not officially in a swamp, it might as well have been, because that's how it felt.

McCain is throwing the election
      I think John McCain is throwing the election. It's the only way to explain some of his recent decisions. Maybe he has money on Obama. Or the Republicans have a devious plan to come back stronger than ever in four years and losing now is part of that plan. With Karl Rove and Newt involved, wacky things are always possible.

Bob Ford's Call the Cops!
It's a long way down from Telegraph Hill
      Cops set up stake- outs around Telegraph Hill after residents of this neighborhood report a series of car break- ins. Crime is not the usual thing in Telegraph Hill, a picturesque section of San Francisco. One of the tallest places in the city, Telegraph Hill was once used for signaling the arrival of sailing ships bringing cargo to the west.

      Beidler thanks Star Thank you again for bringing the past to light. (The Beidler Legacy, The Columbia Star, 09-05-08) You are right that the family was torn about losing property on the monument, but ultimately I do believe it was probably in the best interest of the state.
