Composer John Fitz Rogers' music has been performed around the world. He has received many commissions, fellowships, and awards. A dedicated advocate for contemporary music, Rogers founded and is artistic director of the Southern Exposure New Music Series, which received the 2007 Chamber Music America / ASCAP Award for Adventurous Programming. These concerts are standing room only and early arrival is suggested for seating. For a donation of $75 or more, patrons may reserve one seat for the entire 2007- 2008 Southern Exposure season.

In January 2007, the Southern Exposure Series won the 2007 Chamber Music America/American Society of Composers, Authors and Publishers (ASCAP) Award for Adventurous Programming. See the USC Press Release or visit the ASCAP site for for more information.

Rogers holds formal degrees in music from Cornell University, the Yale School of Music, and Oberlin College, where he studied composition, piano, and conducting. He has served on the faculties of Cornell University and the Longy School of Music, as composer- in- residence for the Conductor's Institute of South Carolina and the Southeastern Piano Festival, and as visiting faculty for the Composition Intensive Program at the Yellow Barn Chamber Music Festival. Rogers is currently an associate professor of composition at the University of South Carolina School of Music. His work is published by Base Two Music Publishing.
