Benjamin Dozier, a Sergeant First Class in the United States Army, has served his country for 12 proud years in the military. On Friday, September 12 at 9 am, his chest may swell with extra pride as Dozier and 30 members of his Military Police Unit hold his final re- enlistment ceremony at Meadowfield Elementary under the adoring glances of his wife, three daughters, and dozens of third- graders.

SFC Dozier requested to hold the re- enlistment ceremony at Meadowfield to honor his wife, Erin, who teaches third grade there, and his two daughters, Kayla and Isabelle, who are students at Meadowfield.

Meadowfield Principal Paula Stephens considered granting his request a privilege. "SFC Dozier told us that it was important for him to recognize the strength and support his family expresses for his career," said Stephens. "Therefore, he requested that his wife, daughters, and his wife's third grade class be included in the ceremony and celebration of this special occasion. This is a unique experience for the children to see firsthand a military ceremony and to participate in honoring those who sacrifice for the security of our country."

After the ceremony SFC Dozier will share his thoughts with students in the class. Dozier recently returned from a 90- day hardship tour with the Houston Recruiting Battalion. He was the top recruiter in his battalion and earned second place among the 1,000 recruiters across the country. This re- enlistment ceremony will secure his place as a soldier in the Army for the next eight years.
