      The Mint moves Charlotte's Mint Museum of Art was designed by architect William Strickland and built by Perry & Ligon (the same) in 1837 on Mint Street. It was moved brick- by- brick to woodsy Randolph Road in the 1930s. A new $57 million five- storey Mint is under construction on South Tryon Street, which is in the heart of downtown Charlotte.

City agreements and campaign contributions
      The City of Columbia and its design/development team came together for a city- financed and city- developed 300- room Hilton Hotel in late spring 2003. A memorandum of understanding (MOU) under a top sheet indicating Hilton Hotels Corporation World Headquarters was circulated and signed among the players, to include the City of Columbia and Stevens & Wilkinson of S.C.

Roof replacement to affect main library parking
      The roof of the Main Library in Downtown Columbia must be replaced. Work began September 8 and is expected to take three months, ending in December. Unfortunately, parking in the upper lot at the Hampton Street entrance is not available.

      According to www.walkscore. com, Columbia received an 86 out of 100 score in walkability. Walk Score calculates the walkability of an address by locating nearby stores, restaurants, schools, parks, etc., and measures how easy it is to live a car- lite lifestyle.
