Midlands Technical College hosts Career Day
Midlands Technical College Airport Campus Midlands Technical College will hold its annual Career Day on Wednesday, September 10, from 9 am- noon on the Midlands Technical College Airport Campus.
For more than 15 years, the annual event has brought together local businesses and MTC students for employment, networking, and learning opportunities. Members of the general public are also invited to attend this year.
Employers from more than 30 businesses and industries will be showcasing their companies at the career fair. Many of the companies will be actively recruiting for open positions.
"The key for employers is finding employees with the right skills. And our students are hoping to find the right match for their skills, too," said Sarah Trice, program director of Student Employment Services at MTC. "That's why events like this Career Day are so important for both students and employers - everyone benefits."
MTC's Career Day not only allows students to seek employment in their fields, it also allows them to explore career opportunities and get a clearer picture of what the job market holds.
The event also gives students a chance to refine their oral and written communication skills - skills that employers consistently demand. Prior to attending, students are encouraged to develop a good resume, research industry trends, and prepare thoughtful questions.
"Seventy percent of today's jobs require education past high school, but less than a four- year degree," Trice said, "and MTC plays an important role in helping provide skilled employees for these positions. Many employers come to our career days year after year because they find that our students have the practical and technical skills that fit their needs."
