      The Richland Northeast Cavaliers scored 27 points in the third quarter and just about every way possible en route to a 43- 0 victory against their rival, the Spring Valley Vikings, at Harry Parone Stadium Friday, August 29.

Capitals survive turnovers, flatten Falcons
      Columbia High survived five fumbles and only scoring one offensive touchdown to defeat A.C. Flora 22- 3 at Memorial Stadium on August 29. Damario Jeffrey ran for an 80-yard touchdown in the third quarter sandwiching two interception returns for touchdowns for the Capitals.

Eagles' 21 unanswered points thwart Bearcats
      Brookland- Cayce coach Abby Bray got his first taste of the Brookland- Cayce Bear-cats/Airport Eagles rivalry as a head coach Friday, August 29 and it was a little sour. Airport quarterback W.T. Murden passed for 127 yards and two touchdowns to give the Eagles a 21- 6 victory.

Cardinals ground Skyhawks
      The Cardinal Newman girls' tennis team defeated Hammond 6- 3 to win its home opener on Tuesday, September 2. The feature match was between the number ones, Tori August of CN and Beth Cotter of Hammond. The first set was a roller coaster affair, including five service breaks and two games with four or more deuces.

Cardinals rally to beat Greenies
      James Williams ran for 83 yards and three touchdowns, and Cardinal Newman overcame five turnovers to defeat Christ School of Arden, NC on Friday, August 29 by a score of 21- 14. Cardinal Newman 21 Christ School 14 Statistically, this game appeared to be a blowout by Cardinal Newman.

Cavaliers down Devils
      The Richland Northeast ladies' tennis team opened its season against the Dreher Blue Devils with a 5- 1 victory Tuesday, September 2. This was a great start for RNE's new tennis coach Bobby Collar who has taken over after long time coach Burns Harris was elevated to the position of school's athletic director.
