With eight schools, bands, cheerleading squads, and favorable weather, the 48th annual Sertoma Sportsarama took over Memorial Stadium on August 16. After canceling the 2007 edition due to temperatures well over 100 degrees, this year's Sportsarama was held in the evening to keep everyone comfortable and safe.

In the first game, Whitmire High School outplayed CA Johnson for a 16- 0 victory. Tailback Jarrell Ruff- Smalls had a good game and scored the Wolverines' first touchdown. Brandon Crumpton threw a touchdown pass late in the game to Josh Pressley to give Whitmire its final margin. CA Johnson's Marquis Darby played well defensively recording an impressive sack and helping keep the Whitmire running game in check.

Game two featured Eau Claire High School and Lower Richland High School. Thomas Gillie was the star for the Shamrocks, intercepting Lower Richland on their first offensive play and scoring on the deciding touchdown a 64- yard reception. Eau Claire's Xavier Murray also scored on a 20- yard run in the first half. The Diamond Hornets did score late in the game but their onside kick was recovered by Eau Claire who held on to win 13- 6. Keenan High School faced Dreher High School in the third game of the night. Keenan's Antonio Perry threw a touchdown pass to Marvin Poole, Arthur Goforth scored on a 25- yard scamper, and linebacker Tyler George returned an interception for the final Raider touchdown, all in the first half.

Dreher responded in the second half with a Bud Jeter interception and strong running by Sheldon Van Dyke. A deep pass from Jacob Gindman to Kurt Stoudenmire gave the Blue Devils the opportunity for a touchdown of their own. Gindman snuck into the endzone on a keeper to bring the score to the final of 21- 6 in favor of the Raiders.

The fourth game showcased last year's undefeated Columbia High School against A.C. Flora. Chris Payne ran at will in the early going for the Capitals, and the USC recruit scored both Columbia touchdowns on short runs. But Flora answered back with a strong passing attack featuring freshman quarterback States Clawson. Passes to Drew Desmond, Will Stevenson and Parks Gardiner moved the Falcons down the field against the vaunted Columbia defense. Ultimately Flora could not get into the end zone, but a Grant Clayton field goal put the Falcons on the board in Columbia's 12- 3 victory.
