Miss Hayne and Mr. Smith exchange vows August 16, 2008

Mrs. Orville Stanley Smith IV Mrs. Orville Stanley Smith IV Mary Douglass Hayne and Orville Stanley Smith IV were married in St. John's Episcopal Church August 16, 2008, at 6 pm. The Rev. John Fletcher Montgomery performed the double- ring ceremony. Music was provided by Robert David Neese Jr., bagpiper; Cameron Charles Kloot, drummer; and Christian Robin Kloot.

The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Theodore Brevard Hayne IV. She is the granddaughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Cyril Cloyd Phillips and the late Dr. and Mrs. Isaac Hayne of Congaree, South Carolina. The bride graduated cum laude from Presbyterian College and received a doctorate in pharmacy from the University of South Carolina. She is employed by Rite Aid Pharmacy.

The bridegroom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Orville Stanley Smith III. He is the grandson of Mr. and Mrs. James Gardiner Graham and Mr. and Mrs. Orville Stanley Smith Jr. The bridegroom graduated from the University of South Carolina and is a partner in Welsford & Smith Realty.

The bride was given in marriage by her father. She wore a diamond white satin gown featuring a strapless, modified sweetheart neckline, basque waist, a trumpet skirt silhouette, and a semi- cathedral train. The dress included a champagne sash leading to the champagne inset on the train. The dress also featured intricate beadwork, accenting where the sash met the inset. The bride's elbow length veil was trimmed with a headpiece of crystals and seed pearls. The veil was first worn by the bride's cousin, Vicki Hearon Burris. The bride's baby bonnet was incorporated in her bouquet. An Australian five cent coin from her travels was placed in her shoe.

The maid of honor was Emily Hunt Walker. The bridesmaids were Gretchen Williams Beckham; Emily Elizabeth Boyd; Kathryn Fae Dail; Anna Cartin Rose; and Constance Smith Cathy, Anita Smith Fair, and Graham Elisabeth Smith, sisters of the bridegroom. The flower girl was Mary Kelly Allen.

The father of the bridegroom served as best man. The groomsmen were Perry Griffeth Beckham; Matthew David Congdon; Banks Harrison Fair, brother- in- law of the bridegroom; James Nance Haltiwanger Jr; Theodore Brevard Hayne V, brother of the bride; Robert Claussen Pulliam Jr.; Roy Grant Smith Jr., cousin of the bridegroom; and Richard Okey Westfall Jr.

The ushers were Fredrick Houston Smith, uncle of the bridegroom; James Gardiner Graham Jr., uncle of the bridegroom; and Henry Dorah Foster Jr.

The readers were William Lane Todd and Mr. and Mrs. Richard Harris Cohn Jr. The acolytes were William Keith Axson and Sarah McMillan Axson.

A reception was held at the Summit Club.

After a honeymoon to Cape Santa Maria, Long Island, and the Bahamas, the couple will reside in Columbia.
