Forbes.com has ranked 569 colleges largely on the quality of the undergraduate experience including how students evaluated their professors.

The Forbes.com ranking relies entirely on outside databases and surveys rather than on the involvement or cooperation of the colleges, some of which have refused to supply information to other ranking systems. The rankings have some surprises — and no doubt will unsettle many college officials and alumni. Haverford College, for example, beats out Stanford. Wofford College outpaces Cornell University, Duke, Johns Hopkins, and Dartmouth.
