      Col. Donald D. Beckham USAF (ret.) died June 5, 2008, in Centennial, Colorado. He was born March 19, 1935, in Columbia, SC. He graduated from Dreher High School in 1953 where he was a football, basketball, and track star. He was noted for his blazing red hair and equally blazing speed and became known around Columbia as "Red.

      South Carolina Criminal Justice Academy Basic Instructor Kendra M. Brown won first place Thursday, August 7, 2008, in the pistol shooting competition at the 13th Annual National Association of Women Law Enforcement Executives (NAWLEE) Conference held at Shaw Air Force Base in Sumter, SC.
