Miss Gantt and Mr. Sawyer wed August 2, 2008

The Rev. Dr. Mary Anderson performed the 5 pm doublering ceremony. Music was provided by Pastor Jim Parham, organist.

The bride is the daughter of Ansel and Jenny Gantt. Her maternal grandparents are Mable Dominick and the late William Dominick of Columbia. Her paternal grandparents are Lucy Gantt and the late Carroll Gantt of Gaston, South Carolina. The bride graduated from Columbia High School and the University of South Carolina with a BS in mathematics, an MAT in education, and an MA in mathematics. She will teach mathematics at Charleston Southern University beginning this month.

The bridegroom is the son of Charles and Nina Sawyer of Jefferson, South Carolina. His maternal grandparents are Lawrence and Peggy Smith of Laurinburg, North Carolina. His paternal grandparents are Florence Sawyer and the late Daniel Sawyer of Charlotte, North Carolina. The bridegroom graduated from Central High School in Pageland, South Carolina, and the University of South Carolina with a B.A. in history. He will begin graduate school at the College of Charleston this month.

The bride was given in marriage by her parents. She wore a strapless white gown with a sweetheart bodice accented with stones and Austrian crystals and a cathedral length train. Her veil was also edged with Austrian crystals. She carried a red rose bouquet.

The matron of honor was Carrie Goodin Thomas of Greenville, South Carolina. The bridesmaids were Valerie Reeves Gantt, sister- in- law of the bride; Meredith McKeever Heath; Laura Greenwold Derks; and Theresa Sparacio Giesey.

The father of the bridegroom served as best man. The groomsmen were Trey Simmons, J. D. Thomas, Chris Welch, and Barry Sowers. The ushers were Justin Gantt, brother of the bride, and Todd Elvis, cousin of the bride.

A reception was held at the Magnolia House of Lexington.

After a honeymoon to Switzerland and France, the couple will reside in Mount Pleasant, South Carolina.
