Thirty- something speaks
Another blow to the ego
      Kids are supposed to love, honor, and respect their parents, right? Then why, all of the sudden, am I starting to feel more like Rodney Dangerfield than Ward Cleaver. A week or so ago my son was imitating me while jumping off a diving board into the pool. His big jump and subsequent parody included me in a La- Z- Boy flipping through channels.

Never come back to D.C.
      It's 1952, and I'm a rookie in training at the Metropolitan Police Department in Washington, D.C. I'm working with Sergeant Grossman, a field training officer. Acting on orders from the deputy chief to clear out Lafayette Park, across from the White House, we're locking up drunks and vagrants by the dozen.

Favorite Olympic moments
      Oh eight, oh eight, oh eight. Sounds like a significant day in the Mayan calendar or when one of those nutty California cults will sit in a parking lot and wait for their master to return from space. For NBC, and many sports fans, the date is significant because the Olympic Games begin.
