USC President Dr. Andrew Sorensen has received The Indian Waters Council of Boy Scouts of America's 2008 Distinguished Citizen Award for his contributions in leadership, commitment to education, and community service. Sorensen has also received an honorary doctorate from the University of Queensland in recognition of his fostering research and teaching between the University of Queensland and USC.

The Greater SC District of the US Postal Service, delivering mail for ZIP Codes 290- 6, has been ranked ninth in the nation for on- time delivery performance scores with a score of 98% for the delivery of overnight first- class mail.
The SC Association of Nonprofit Organizations (SCANPO) has elected a new executive committee to its Board of Directors.
