Carolina Children's Home is hosting its annual Back to School Drive fundraiser and supply drive through September 1 in preparation of sending more than 85 children and adolescents back to school.

Supplies and funds will be accepted at the Home's Administration Building, which is at the corner of Sunnyside Drive and Felix Road, between the hours of 9 am and 5 pm.

The home's residents are typically between the ages 14 and 17 and either attend local Richland One schools or attend school on campus in the Carolina Children's Home Clinical Day Program provided by Richland

One educators.

The on- campus, alternative education program is designed for students with special needs or who need to develop the social and academic skills necessary for success for their eventual transition into the public school system.

Last year, Carolina Children's Home served more than 300 children and adolescents from across the state of South Carolina. Sixty- seven percent of the Home's residents attended high school, 27 percent attended middle school, and six percent attended elementary school.

In operation since 1909, Carolina Children's Home is one of the largest and most comprehensive residential treatment facilities

in South Carolina for abused, abandoned, and neglected children.

A private non- profit, the home offers three levels of care including counseling and therapeutic services that are centered on the individual needs of its resident children. In the last five years, the Home has had nearly 1,500 children from throughout South Carolina who were the tragic victims of abuse and neglect and provided them with a safe, nurturing place in which to live and grow.
