Volunteer goes to Honduras to help at the Farm of the Child
A group of girls at the Farm of the Child in Trujillo, Honduras St. David's Episcopal Church will host "A Taste of Columbia," on July 29 as a fundraiser for a young woman who is leaving the country to volunteer at an orphanage in Honduras called the Farm of the Child. Jennie Motto organized "A Taste of Columbia" as part of her effort to raise $13,000 to cover the cost of her commitment. She plans on serving at the Farm of the Child for 2.5 years in whatever capacity they place her.
The Farm of the Child is an orphanage located in Trujillo, Honduras, and is home to almost 50 children. It houses several Catholic ministry projects. The volunteers offer on- site services. They volunteer in a medical clinic, as school teachers, on a team of social workers, and in outreach projects in the community.
Motto states, "I am committed to serving at the Farm of the Child because of its strong Catholic community and its dedication to working within the surrounding community to improve the lives of the children and the Farm's neighbors."
