Bob Malpass City of Cayce Mayor Bob Malpass City of Cayce Mayor A new era began in the City of Cayce politics July 1, 2008. Bob Malpass led his first council meeting as mayor of the Midlands community after the resignation of long- time Mayor Avery Wilkerson. Wilkerson was appointed to serve on the S.C. Workers Compensation Commission and began his six- year term on July 1.

Malpass has represented District One in Cayce since 2000. He retired from the state Department of Health and Environmental Control in 1996 where he served as chief of the Bureau of Drinking Water Protection for 11 years. He also served as chief of the Bureau of Solid and Hazardous Waste Management for five years and deputy chief of the Bureau of Air Quality for two years. He has been a registered professional engineer since 1973.

Malpass has served as mayor pro- tem for Cayce since the spring of 2008.

In addition, Councilman James "Skip" Jenkins was elected to serve as mayor pro- tem. Jenkins was elected to Cayce City Council in 2002 and works at CMC Steel. He represents District Two.
