      A new era began in the City of Cayce politics July 1, 2008. Bob Malpass led his first council meeting as mayor of the Midlands community after the resignation of long- time Mayor Avery Wilkerson. Wilkerson was appointed to serve on the S.C. Workers Compensation Commission and began his six- year term on July 1.
