C.A. Johnson graduate's composition premieres in Austria

Exposition, a composition written by Dr. Joyce Solomon Moorman, will receive its European premiere July 4 at the University for Music and Performing Arts in Vienna, Austria.

Dr. Moorman, now resides in Brooklyn, New York and is the daughter of Mary Solomon, a retired Columbia public school guidance counselor, and Dr. Walker Solomon, now deceased, who retired as associate executive secretary of the South Carolina Education Association.

Dr. Moorman, a graduate of C.A. Johnson High School received a B.A. from Vassar College and Ed.D from Columbia University.

The composition, Exposition, is part of a larger work, Dream Variations, which was commissioned by Rejoicensemble, a New York City choral group that specializes in performing the vocal music of composers from the African diaspora.

In Vienna, Exposition will be recorded by a sound team from the Vienna Modern Masters, a recording company that specializes in the music of contemporary art music composers.
