U.S. Judge Matthew Perry inaugurates three at Columbia City Council

      Columbia City Council held its swearing in ceremony at four in the afternoon, Monday, June 30. City Manager Charles Austin presided over the ceremony, and Mayor Bob Coble welcomed the crowd. Council members E.W. Cromartie, Daniel Rickenmann, and Belinda Gergel repeated U.S. Judge Matthew Perry's swearing in declarations before a packed house in City Hall.

      Roll call Mayor Bobby Horton called the West Columbia City Council meeting to order at 6 pm. Council Members Mayor Bobby E. Horton, Mayor Pro- Tempore Tommy G. Parler, Eric L. Fowler, L. Dale Harley, Jack L. Harmon, Boyd J. Jones, Marsha J. Moore, and B.J. Unthank were present. Council member Cathy Shannon was absent.

      Roll call Chairman Joe McEachern, Vice Chair Val Hutchinson, Joyce Dickerson, Norman Jackson, Damon Jeter, Paul Livingston, Bill Malinowski, Greg Pearce, Bernice Scott, and Kit Smith were present for the Richland County Council meeting. Mike Montgomery was with his son at the Olympic trials.
