Dozens of experimental Aircraft Association volunteer pilots rolled out of bed early, footed the bills for gassing up their own planes, and drew upon years of flying experience last weekend when they took off from Owens Downtown Airport to give 125 youngsters a taste of adventure in the air. Celebrating International Young Eagles Day with free flights over Columbia is an annual June event chaired by pilot and movie star Harrison Ford. In Columbia every second Saturday is Young Eagles Day. For information about experiencing flight, go to www.youngeagles,org or call 803-254-2997.
