S.C. chaplain becomes commandant of U.S. Army Chaplain Center and School

Boone, and Teresa Boone after the Change of Commandant Ceremony at Fort Jackson Chaplain Sam Boone from Bennettsville, S.C., is the new commandant for The United States Chaplain Center and School at Fort Jackson, S.C. He was sworn in June 24, 2008, at the MG Robert B. Solomon Center at Fort Jackson. He replaces Chaplain (Colonel) Clarke L. McGriff of North Carolina.

Boone holds a BA in behavioral sciences from Scaritt College for Christian Workers, a master of divinity in Bible and Church History from the Divinity School of Vanderbilt University and an MA in human resource development from Peabody College of Vanderbilt University. His military education includes: Infantry Officer Basic, Chaplain Officer Basic and Advance Courses, Combined Arms & Services Staff School, Command and General Staff Officer Course, the Division and Installation Chaplain's Courses, and the Air War College Seminar. The Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) endorses Chaplain Boone.

Boon is married to the former Teresa Allen of Macon, Ga. They will celebrate 33 years of marriage July 26.
