      Many people turned out for the book-signing held for Sen. Ernest F. "Fritz" Hollings at Thomas Cooper Library, USC, June 16. Highlights from his personal archive, which he gave to the University of South Carolina's libraries, will be on display at Thomas Cooper Library through July 31.

Spring Valley Rotary sponsors blood drive
      The Spring Valley Rotary Club will host a Red Cross Blood Drive on Tuesday, July 8 from 1 to 6 pm in the Community Room at the Village at Sandhill. The Community Room is located next to JC Penney and across from the Village Bistro at 499 Town Center Place. Donors need to be 17 years of age and in general good health.
