It is kitten season! The Humane Society/HSPCA is offering free kitten spay/neuter from June 16- July 18. Kittens must be between three and five months of age to qualify.

Spring and early summer is prime kitten season. The benefits of spay/neutering go far beyond prevention of overpopulation. It is healthy for your pet. Spay/neutering can eliminate or reduce the incidence of a number of health problems that can be very difficult or expensive to treat. Spaying eliminates the possibility of uterine or ovarian cancer and greatly reduces the incidence of breast cancer, particularly when your pet is spayed before her first estrous cycle. Neutering eliminates testicular cancer and decreases the incidence of prostate disease. In addition, younger pets have less discomfort after surgery.

Age will be determined by the presence of baby teeth and/or at the discretion of the attending veterinarian. Kittens must weigh at least three pounds at the time of surgery. Kittens will be required to have rabies and distemper vaccinations if age appropriate.

To schedule an appointment for your kitten call 803- 783-1267 and mention the KittySnip summer special.
