Richland started the scoring in the bottom of the second when an errant Lexington pick- off attempt allowed Leland Shealy to cross the plate. The Pathfinders would not find home plate again until the sixth inning.

A five- run third inning for Lexington blew the game open as the visitors batted around. Jason Cochcroft's double off the wall to center scored Josh Attaway, which was shortly followed by Kyle Owings' double off the left field wall to score Cochcroft. A wild pitch and Jowan Gray single to left- center added two more runs and Patrick Cassady closed out the third by singling home Gray. Richland had a runner in scoring position in the bottom of the third but could not capitalize.

Robert Gibbes crushed a two- run double to dead center and Jay Wilson added an RBI double of his own.

Gibbes' sacrifice fly with one out provided the game's final run, giving Richland a two run advantage at 13- 11.

Kyle Williamson returned to the mound for Richland in the ninth after being bruised for three runs in the eighth and showed the form that helped him lead Ben Lippen to a state title this season. Williamson faced only four batters, preventing a Lexington comeback and preserving an important win for Richland Post 6.
