Martin's slam sinks West Columbia

Tyler Martin hit a grand slam and four pitchers combined to allow West Columbia just six hits and two runs helping visiting Irmo/Chapin to a 6- 2 victory in American Legion baseball play Monday, June 2 at Airport High School.

Shawn Linebaugh did the bulk of the work for Irmo/Chapin pitching 4- 2/3 innings. He allowed two runs, four hits, walked just one, and struck out four. Chad Balderman, Kaden Watson, and Gabe Grammer combined for five strike- outs, two hits, one walk, and no runs in relief.

Linebaugh also had a good night from the plate going 3- for- 4 with an RBI.

Martin's grand slam came in the fifth inning. With Will Keel, Grammer, and Watson on base, Martin crushed a two out, 2- 1 pitch that gave him his fifth RBI on the night and Irmo/Chapin a 5- 2 lead.
