Six Richland one students named 2008 National Merit Scholars winners

A.C. Flora High School Alexandria M. Hammond Emory University A.C. Flora High School Alexandria M. Hammond Emory University Six Richland One students have been named winners in the college sponsored 2008 National Merit Scholarship Program. Colleges and universities across the nation provide scholarships ranging from $500 to $2,000 annually (for up to four years) to National Merit Scholarship finalists who plan to attend their institutions. The National Merit Scholarship Program is a prestigious academic competition for recognition and college scholarships. Winners are chosen based on high scores on the PSAT, academic achievement, teacher recommendations and other strict criteria. College-sponsored Merit Scholarship awards are renewable for up to four years of undergraduate study. Nearly 200 higher education institutions underwrite Merit Scholarship awards through the National Merit Program.
