RNE student wins Best of the Fest
RNE seniors Alec Grooms (l) and Yotum Almor won Best of the Fest at the 2008 IndieReels Festival for High School Filmmakers for their drama Le Ver. The film will be screened at Nickelodeon Theatre's Indie Grits Film Festival in April. Le Ver, a film by Richland Northeast's Palmetto Center for the Arts Theatre seniors Alec Grooms and Yotum Almor, took the Best of the Fest at the second annual IndieReels Festival for High School Filmmakers. It also won the Best Drama award. Stress, a podcast public service announcement by RNE iLink student Arvaughna Postema, won Best PSA. Other winners were Thomas Horton for comedy and Mylan Cannon for documentary.
The festival screening took place at Nickelodeon Theatre March 15. Workshops in video and podcasting taught by Richland Northeast's Nancy Underwood and Perry McLeod were held the day before at Richland Northeast. Top entries will be screened as part of Nickelodeon Theatre's Indie Grits Film Festival, April 9- 13.
