Junior Cotillion celebrates 14th Annual Dinner and Ball
Leslie Clare Lyon and Pierce Jones On Sunday, March 16, 2008, the Downtown Marriott was the site of the 14th Annual Junior Cotillion Dinner and Ball. Year two students reviewed social etiquette and table manners as they feasted on fresh salad, Italian minestrone, teriyaki chicken on wild rice with green beans, lemon sorbet and tiramisu.
After the instructional dinner was complete, the participants adjourned to the dance floor where they waltzed, shagged, and did the fox trot and electric slide. The two senior assistants, Leslie Jordan and Anna Ruth Zubizaretta who will graduate this year said Junior Cotillion has been a great help to them and will likely continue to be as they head to college. Zubizaretta, who is going to Columbia College to major in education, said, "Junior Cotillion has greatly improved my dancing." Jordan, who is planning to study premed at Wofford or College of Charleston, feels Junior Cotillion has definitely helped her social skills. Jan Cohn, Junior Cotillion director, said, "Many students stayed afterward to continue dancing. I think this shows the importance of the second year. They are more comfortable with one another and are well mannered ladies and gentlemen."
