Falcons' nine unanswered runs doom Devils

      After trailing 4- 0 in the second inning, A.C. Flora scored nine unanswered runs, seven in the fourth inning, to win at home against rival Dreher, 15- 5 on March 21. Pitcher Will Freeman struck out six Blue Devils and Joseph O'Steen pitched two solid innings to close out the victory for the Falcons.

      Kathrine Johnson went 3- 3 and Kia Savage went 2- 3 to lead A.C. Flora at home over Dreher 10- 0 in five innings. Ashley Roof pitched the shut- out for the Falcons. The win improved A.C. Flora to 3- 3 (2- 3) and dropped Dreher to 1- 5 (0- 4).

Area swimmers qualify for national competition

      Four local swimmers are heading to Fort Lauderdale, Florida to represent the Columbia YMCA Swim Club on the national stage. Logan Schumpert (13), and sisters Laura (16), Heidi (16), and Courtney Nichols (18) swam the qualifying times necessary to receive an invitation to the YMCA National Short Course Swimming and Diving Championships being held April 1- 4.
