Crum elected S.C. Women Lawyers Assoc. president

 McNair Law firm, P.A. shareholder, M. Elizabeth "Liz" Crum has been elected president of the S. C. Women Lawyers Association (SCWLA).

Crum is a native of Denmark, S.C., and joined McNair in 1981. Following her graduation from the USC School of Law in 1973, Crum served as an assistant attorney general for S.C. in its special litigation section until 1977. From 1977, until she joined McNair, she was the staff counsel and director of research for the S.C. House of Representatives.

One of her priorities as president of SCWLA will be to help develop mentoring connections with women lawyers early in their careers so they may benefit from those who have pioneered in the profession and can guide new attorneys in their career choices.

Crum's area of practice concentration is federal, state, and local regulatory healthcare matters.

SC Small Business- Chamber exec featured in national TV ad Contributed by The S.C. Small Business Chamber of Commerce

Proclaiming the economic opportunities of Congress addressing climate change, Frank Knapp Jr., president of The S.C. Small Business Chamber of Commerce, appeared in a new television ad airing in 22 media markets across the country March 17. The ad, produced for Environmental Defense, began running Sunday, March 16 in the Columbia market on all networks.

Knapp was asked to do the ad because of the Small Business Chamber's past efforts to educate the business community and public about the potential negative consequences to small businesses of climate change as well as the opportunities for small businesses to address the problem.

The ad can be viewed at http://www.edf.org. Melvin C. Brimfield was the winner of a $10,000 scholarship first prize during halftime of the Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association men's championship game on March 1.

Parrish Little has been named to First Citizens as director of risk management and Charles Bruce has joined as head of property management.

Tommy L. Gregory, founder and CEO of Gregory Electric, Inc., was recently awarded the Order of The Palmetto. Maria Hargrave was named as a Youth Corps board member, S.C. Planned Giving Council board member, and president of the Association of Fundraising Professionals' Center S.C. Chapter.

Ethel Taylor will retire from broadcasting after 58 years.
