      A.C. Flora's Kim Roach scored 20 of her game- high 23 points in the second half to help lead the Falcons over the visiting Travelers Rest Devildogs 64- 50 in the second round of the class 3A state playoffs Upper State bracket.

      In the second round of the 3A state playoffs, Brookland- Cayce outlasted the Darlington Falcons on February 15, to advance to the third round at Myrtle Beach. T.J. Boykin scored 20 hard- earned points to lead the Bearcats while Delanta McCoy added 19 and O.B. Johnson scored 17.

Cardinals fly into finals
~February 18, 2008~Boys SCISA Region 2- 3A Tournament Semifinals
      Michael Littlejohn scored his 1,000th career point at Cardinal Newman, finishing with 21 overall, while leading the Cardinals into the finals of SCISA Region II-AAA basketball tournament with a 43- 34 win over Augusta Christian on Monday, February 18.

      Elaine Epting had 12 points and 10 rebounds to lead the Hammond Lady Skyhawks into the finals of the SCISA Region II-AAA basketball tournament with a 42- 28 win over the Lady Cardinals of Cardinal Newman on Monday, February 18.

      Mary Anne (Cubelic) Grant, assistant executive director of the Richland County Recreation Commission and Clemson University Women's Basketball stand- out, has been named as an Atlantic Coast Conference Women's basketball tournament Legend.

Highlanders are champs
~February 19,2008~Girls SCISA Region 2- 3A Tournament Championship
      Heathwood Hall girls' coach Jack Warren called his team's quest for a region championship a "process that we have been building for three years." On Tuesday, February 19, the Lady Highlanders saw that process completed as they defeated Hammond, 49- 43, to capture the SCISA Region II-AAA basketball tournament title.

Falcon soaring to Western
~February 14, 2008~
      Ben Lippen girls' soccer stand- out Meritt Rollins is headed to Western Carolina. She went to soccer camps at WCU in July of 2006 and 2007 and had an unofficial visit in February of 2007. Rollins received interest from three schools but verbally committed to the Catamounts last August. She had an official visit in October.

Shandon Pres. takes title
      The Shandon Presbyterian fourth grade basketball team won the Columbia Interfaith Basketball League regular season championship, then the tournament championship by defeating Eastmin-ister Presbyterian Church 22- 15.
