USC names Carolina Master Scholars
The University of South Carolina designated 31 academically talented middle and high school students as Carolina master scholars earlier this month. These students make up the fourth graduating class to earn the designation of Carolina master scholar for having completed at least three Adventure Series courses. The Adventure Series is a summer program for academically talented students in grades 6- 12 (rising). The students attended classes in technology, science, journalism, law, health and other challenging academic subjects. Those from the Midlands are Robert Williams, Heathwood Hall Episcopal School, parents: Theo Williams and Lisa Brink; John Kopp Chapin Middle School, parents: Monica Kopp and Doug Griffith; Andrew Wood, Heathwood Hall Episcopal School, parents: Oliver and Jean Wood; Rebecca Neal, Dreher High School, parents: Thomas and Betsy Neal; Victoria Leonhardt, Crossroads Middle School, parents: Tami Leonhardt; Wesley Paulman, Summit Parkway Middle School, parents: Dr. Lance and Joanna Paulman; Kyle Starnes, Ben Lippen High School, parents: Dale and Renee Starnes; Garrison Weiner, Northside Middle School, parents: Richard Weiner and Angela Alexander.
