Spring Valley students receive $100,000 scholarships
     Contributed by Spring Valley High School Sean Hastings and Danielle Wright of Spring Valley High School were each presented with the Hollingsworth Scholarship from Furman University. The scholarships are valued at $100,000 each with research opportunities and an additional $1,000 for travel abroad. The scholarship is awarded to 25 students from S.C. each year.The students' families joined their children for the presentations.

USC names Carolina Master Scholars
      The University of South Carolina designated 31 academically talented middle and high school students as Carolina master scholars earlier this month. These students make up the fourth graduating class to earn the designation of Carolina master scholar for having completed at least three Adventure Series courses.
