Police chief speaks to St. Andrews Rotary
Didier Nobels, president of St. Andrews Rotary Club; Chief of the Irmo Police Department Brian Buck; and Col. Pete Sercer, program chairman of St. Andrews Rotary Club. Brian Buck, Chief of the Irmo Police Department for the last two years, spoke to the St. Andrews Rotary Club about the changes technology and the impact of Crimestoppers have had on the area. During this time each patrol car has been outfitted with laptop computers and printers, so that the officers can do in their patrol car what they would otherwise have had to return to their office to do. And because of the input of all citizens through Crimestoppers, many more culprits are nabbed and brought to justice.
Chief Buck was born and raised in Irmo, attended high school there, and graduated from USC with a B.S. degree in criminal justice in 1991. He joined the Irmo Police Department and through progressively more demanding positions with the department was promoted to Chief of Police in 2004. Chief Buck also serves on the Board of Directors of Crimestoppers.
