Margaret and Bill Flatt Margaret and Bill Flatt For most people, swimming ends when summer ends, but for Bill and Margaret Flatt, swimming is a year- round event. Both swim on the A.C. Flora High School swim team and together helped the swim team place in the State Championships last year.

Bill contributed to the boys' third place finish, and Margaret helped the girls tie for 12th place. Together they have been swimming for 17 years, Bill for eight years and his sister, who is a year older, for nine. The pair started swimming because they spent time at Hunting Creek Country Club when they were young. Swimming was a big deal," according to Bill.

Last year Margaret had ear surgery, which interfered with her swimming, but she is back with the team for her senior year. While the duo does not compete against each other because of the gender difference, Bill says he likes having his sister on his team because, "There's always someone I know."
