Blue Devils blown away by Cyclones
      Chester High School scored four first half touchdowns and used a goal line stand to record their second consecutive shut out beating Dreher 36- 0 on October 19. SEC recruit and Shrine Bowl player C.C. Whitlock passed for two touchdowns and caught another as the Cyclones quick- strike offense overwhelmed the Blue Devils.

Vikings lose another heartbreaker
      The Spring Valley Vikings made an improbable comeback to force overtime against the visiting Ridge View Blazers, but a penalty and a missed extra- point cost them a chance at their first victory of the season and kept the Blazers in the hunt for the Region V- 4A title.

Barons prove rude to be guests at Cardinals' Homecoming
      Citius, Altius, Fortius. The Olympic motto of "Swifter, Higher, Stronger" applied Friday night, October 19 to the Wilson Hall Barons. Facing an undermanned Cardinal Newman team, the Barons scored on seven of their nine possessions en route to a 48- 7 win over the Cardinals.

Falcons fight but Skyhawks soar
      Brad Meredith rushed 34 times for 150 yards and a touchdown to help the Hammond Skyhawks overcome a pesky visiting Ben Lippen Falcon squad 26- 14 October 19. The Falcons were without the services of starting quarterback Kyle Williamson, but still closed to within 19- 14 in the fourth quarter off Emmanuel Hightower's 68- yard touchdown run.

Highlanders are State Champs!
      The Heathwood Hall Highlanders are bridesmaids no longer. After finishing second to Cardinal Newman and Hammond in 2005 and 2006 respectively, Heathwood Hall beat Ashley Hall 5- 4 Saturday morning, October 20 in Sumter at the Palmetto Tennis Center to claim the SCISA 3A Championship.

Hammond and Cardinal Newman reach semifinals
      The last three SCISA 3A champions Cardinal Newman (2004 and 2005) and Hammond (2006) were eliminated in the semifinals of this year's tournament by a couple of Halls in Sumter at the Palmetto Tennis Center Friday, October 19.
