Falcons strike first, but Bengals run away with win
The Falcons jumped out to a 7- 0 lead at the 8:35 mark of the first quarter after quarterback Drew Desmond found Carlos McCoy for a 22- yard touchdown pass. The Bengals struck back four minutes later when quarterback Richard Mounce scampered 40 yards for a touchdown.
Blythewood running back James Wilkerson put the Bengals ahead 14- 7 two minutes into the second quarter on a five- yard scoring run. Then with 3:16 remaining in the first half, Mounce threw a 10- yard touchdown pass to Charles Wright to put the Bengals up 21- 7.
The Falcons closed the gap to 21- 14 midway through the third quarter after Otis Praylow's three yard run, but the Bengals outscored A.C. Flora 22- 8 in the final quarter- and- a- half.
First Mounce connected with Marquan Jones for a nine yard touchdown pass to close the third quarter, then Aaron Mayes kicked a 26- yard field goal with 6:39 remaining in the fourth quarter to put the Bengals up 31- 14. Six seconds later Renardo Wilson picked off a Desmond pass and returned it 20 yards for a touchdown.
The Falcons responded 13 seconds later with an 80- yard Desmond touchdown pass to Eric Sephes to pull A.C. Flora within 15. The Bengals would put the game away with Wilkerson's second touchdown run of the night. This time he'd score from nine yards out. Wilkerson finished with 122 yards and two touchdowns on 16 carries.
Mounce completed 16- of- 28 passes for 215 yards, two touchdowns, and one interception. He also rushed seven times for 67 yards and a touchdown.
Otis Praylow rushed 25 times for 107 yards and a touchdown for A.C. Flora. Drew Desmond completed 10 out of 23 passes for 185 yards, two touchdowns and three interceptions.
Thanos Harley and Joey Thompson led the Falcons with five tackles each. Elliott Richardson recorded an interception.
