World renowned astrophysicist visits Richland One

Richland School District One, the Richland County Public Library and the South Carolina State Museum co-sponsored the October 3 visit by world renowned astrophysicist Dr. Neil deGrasse Tyson who met with hundreds of middle school students from across the Midlands at the Koger Center.

While in Columbia, Dr. Tyson visited Richland One's Challenger Learning Center. Dr. Tyson, one of the leading authorities in astrophysics and space exploration, has worked extensively with NASA on its major endeavors, including the Hubble Space Telescope. He also hosts the popular PBS NOVA series titled ScienceNow.
