Columbia's Forestry and Beautification Division receives Tree City USA Award
      The City of Columbia has been recognized as a Tree City USA for the twenty- eighth consecutive year. The award was presented to the Columbia City Council at the August 15 meeting by Regional Urban Forester Jimmy Walters of the South Carolina Forestry Commission.

Garden receives grants from local foundations
      The Daniel Stowe Botanical Garden was awarded a $5,000 grant from the Carrie E. and Lena V. Glenn Foundation and a $10,000 grant from the Doctor Foundation in support of the Willow Maze, which opens in late September at the Garden.
