Flora student heads to Argentina

      Dylan Kornegay is many things - artist and athlete, student and socialite, avid soccer fan, sales clerk at a local kitchen store, and a junior at A.C. Flora High School. And next year, thanks to the Rotary Club of Columbia, Dylan will tack on yet another title - exchange student.

New principal takes over at Rosewood

      Dr. Ted Wachter was removed from the principalship of Rosewood Elementary School Friday, April 27, for reasons within his control. Taking over for the long time controversial administrator was Zoë Mueller, a third grader at Rosewood, the daughter of Trish and Rayne Mueller.

Clemson taps second RNE senior for prestigious program

      Layton Williamson is the second senior at Richland Northeast High Schoolto win a place in Clemson University's prestigious program, TREE (Transatlantic Exchange of Economics). The program is a new four- year dual- degree program administered by Clemson, UniversiteCatholique de Louvain in Belgium, and Universiteit Maastricht in The Netherlands.

Lower Richland Ruritan essay contest winners

      The Lower Richland Ruritan Club held an essay contest for 5th graders at Burnside Elementary School. The theme of the essay contest was "What it means to be an American." The winners and their family members were awarded their prizes and enjoyed dinner with the Ruritans at the May 1 monthly meeting. Grand prize winner Ashley Ingram was awarded a $50 Savings Bond.
