We at Hammond are proud to announce that two student- athletes signed National Letters of Intent, on Feb. 7. Carter Scott signed with Dartmouth College of the prestigious Ivy League. Tyler Bailey signed with Hampton University of the MEAC Conference. This is the first time in Hammond's history that two student- athletes signed with Division I universities on football scholarships.

Carter Scott, who led Hammond's linebacker crew, received numerous accolades for the 2006 season, such as being named The State's SCISA Defensive Player of the Year, member of The State's All- Area Team, SCISA Defensive Player of the Year, member of the SCISA All- State Team, High School Sports Report's SCISA Defensive Player of the Year, member of the HSSR's All- State Team and the talking captain for South Carolina team for the 2006 Oasis Shrine Bowl Classic. Scott is the first Hammond student-athlete to sign with an Ivy League school. It should be noted that Dartmouth College does not award athletic scholarships, only academic scholarships.
