      The A.C. Flora Lady Falcons had a disappointing Saturday, losing the upper state championship to the J.L. Mann Lady Patriots 63- 47 in the S.C. Class 3A division held in Greenville's BiLo Center Feb. 24. The Lady Falcons lost the tip off to the Patriots and stayed behind the rest of the game. This was A.C.

The Rematch
      Lower Richland Diamond Hornet girls basketball coach Debbie Stroman and Dorman Cavalier coach Joy Couch met at the S.C. High School League headquarters Wednesday, Feb. 28 for a press conference. They will meet again Friday, March 2 at 7 pm at the Colonial Center to determine the class 4A girls basketball state champion for the second time in two years.

      In Mike Maddock's Feb. 16 article regarding the girls' basketball game between Heathwood Hall and Cardinal Newman, it was stated "Senior night doesn't mean much when there are no seniors on a team, which is the case for the Heathwood Hall Lady Highlanders.

      We at Hammond are proud to announce that two student- athletes signed National Letters of Intent, on Feb. 7. Carter Scott signed with Dartmouth College of the prestigious Ivy League. Tyler Bailey signed with Hampton University of the MEAC Conference.

C.A. Johnson Green Hornets honor new coach
      C.A. Johnson Preparatory Academy has a new head football coach and the school is inviting the community to meet him. Jerry P. Jackson, an assistant football coach and driver's education teacher at C.A. Johnson, will take over the leadership of the Hornets. He is a graduate of Mississippi Valley State University.

Blythewood names Shaw as new coach
      The Richland School District Two Board has approved the selection of Reggie Shaw as the next head football coach at Blythewood High School. Shaw comes to Blythewood after serving one year as an assistant coach at James F. Byrnes High School in Duncan, S.C. Before then, Shaw was an assistant coach at Fairfield Central.
