The Shepherd’s Center of Columbia begins Winter Session

The Winter Session of The Shepherd’s Center of Columbia, a national educatioinal program for seniors featuring over 20 subjects, begins Wednesday, Jan. 17, 2007, at Trenholm Road United Methodist Church. Preregistration is Jan. 10.

Each Wednesday, a variety of classes begins at 9 am. Such courses as exercise, bridge, acrylic and watercolor painting are offered. Blood pressure checks are also offered along with coffee and fellowship.

At 10 am swing music, World War II and Between the Wars, The Living Body, Do Great Books Make Great Movies?, Classic Movies and Great Stars, How Does Your Garden Grow?, South Carolina History, Creative Writing, and Handbells are held. At 11 am, Dulcimers, interpreting Genesis, Reading Between the Lines, Money Matters, History of Rome: From Unification of Italy to the Civil War, Potpourri (six classes), and Christianity and Our Constitution (three classes), My Town, Culture and Politics, and Richard Wagner–From Walhalla to the Holy Grail are offered.

A delightful lunch for six dollars is served at noon followed by a different speaker each week. Line Dancing, Bridge, Knitting Konfab, Music is Fun, and History of Columbia are held from 1:30–2:30 pm. The cost is $21 per semester. Call 799-4449.
