Miss Collum and Mr. Jordan exchange vows November 11, 2006
Deborah Ann Collum of Co-lumbia and Wilburn Kirby Jordan III, originally of Marion, were married Saturday, November 11, 2006, at Asbury Memorial United Methodist Church. The Reverend Doctor Noble Franklin Miller performed the 3 pm ceremony. Susanne Sloan and Michael Covington were soloists.
The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Richard Frank "Jack" Collum of Columbia. She is the granddaughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Andrew Jay Collum and the late Mr. and Mrs. Miles Wilson. She earned a B.A. in English from the University of South Carolina and is employed by the City of Columbia as the assistant to Chief of Police H. Dean Crisp Jr.
The bridegroom, son of Mr. and Mrs. Wilburn Kirby Jordan Jr., is the grandson of the late Mr. and Mrs. Wilburn Kirby Jordan and the late Mr. and Mrs. Thomas Cecil Powers. He attended Spartanburg Methodist College and Francis Marion College. He is the youth director and extended care director for Asbury Memorial United Methodist Church and Asbury Memorial Preschool and Kindergarten, respectively.
The bride wore an ivory dress with a bateau neckline, a beaded bodice, and a chapel length train. She was escorted by her father.
The matrons of honor were Mrs. Connie Elmer, sister of the bride, and Mrs. Caroline McElveen. The matrons of honor wore floor length mock two piece cranberry colored halter dresses with beaded necklines. Kathy Brown, Sarah Kimbrough, Linda Moore, Debbie Rountree, and Marti Weaver served as honorary bridesmaids.
Caroline Phelps, niece of the bridegroom, served as the acolyte, and Mason Brandes, son of long-time friend of the bride, served as the crucifer. The best men were Wilburn Kirby Jordan IV and Jason E. Jordan, sons of the bridegroom. Ushers and honorary groomsmen were Barry Powers Jordan, brother of the bridegroom and Thomas R. Phelps, brother-in-law of the bridegroom, Michael P. Elmer and Jonathan A. Elmer, nephews of the bride.
A reception followed in the church Fellowship Hall.
The couple honeymooned at Surfside Beach.
They would like to thank their honorary bridesmaids and groomsmen, Sgt. Florence McCants of the Columbia Police Department, Georgia Cooper of the Palmetto Club, and everyone who made their wedding very special.
