Letter to the editor
I have enjoyed the articles on Mrs. Sloan's Dancing School. I, too, attended the school. Being a shy boy, I dreaded going at first, but my mother made me go. I always enjoyed it once I got there. Later on I did not have to be forced to go.
I have a question for The Columbia Star or for some of your readers. All articles so far have said they attended the school at the Woman's Club on Blossom Street. When I attended the school it was in a two-story building, which is still standing, across from the WIS-TV studios.
Which place was the first location of the school and when did it move? What years did the school operate in each place?
Incidentially, my mother Lilah Chisolm, was president of the Columbia Woman's Club in 1955, but I do not ever remember going to dancing school there, only at the other place across from the TV station.
