Jim Manning, president of the student body, welcomed the new Flora principal, Richard McClure, at a drop-in on Sunday. There will be a lot of new faces at Flora this year. In addition to the usual group of upcoming freshman, the school will welcome a new principal.
Richard McClure, formerly principal of James F. Byrnes High School in Spartanburg Five, will be replacing Kathie Greer as principal of A. C. Flora High School.
The school honored McClure with a drop-in at Forest Drive Church on Sunday, July 30. The drop-in provided the Flora community with a chance to meet their new principal before the start of school on August 8. As McClure moved among groups of welcoming students and parents, he said he was excited about the upcoming year.
"I'm really impressed by the inviting atmosphere of the school," he said. "This seems to be a very warm and welcoming community."
