The dining room at Laurel Crest Retirement Home overlooks the fruits of the Garden Committee's labor. The Memory Garden provides a pleasant view for diners.

The Garden Committee is made up of Laurel Crest residents who take care of the Memory Garden. Mabel McCarley has been a resident for almost 12 years. She does most of the work. She is 94-years-old and regularly wears her high heel shoes while she works in the garden.

Other members of the committee include Evelyn Sharpe (almost 12 years), F Herman and Jean Lesslie (new to Laurel Crest one year), Ernest Kachline (two years) and Timmie Dorn (one year).

Laurel Crest is sponsored by the First Presbyterian Church of Columbia. It was opened in August 1994.
