Charles Cobb tags out Columbia N/E's Justin Bouknight at first base on a throw from Richland pitcher Matt Alsaeedi. Cobb went two for four at the plate and scored three runs.
Former A.C. Flora star, Will Lewis, led Richland Post 6 past Columbia Northeast Post 182 22 to one in an American Legion battle at Richland Northeast High School Friday June 30, 2006.
Lewis went six for seven with three singles, two doubles, and a home run. He was not alone though.
Hammond school stand-out Matt Alsaeedi pitched six innings for Richland allowing only one run and five hits. He struck out five and walked five.
Richland batters amassed 21 hits off Columbia N/E pitchers Matt and Andrew Hill (Ridge View), and Hunter Bartlett (Spring Valley). Richland scored three runs in the first inning, one in the fourth, ten in the sixth, and eight in the seventh.
Richland Northeast graduate Brandon Faust was a bright spot for Columbia N/E going two for three. He played well from his centerfield position accounting for three outs.
Will Lewis went six for seven with three singles, two doubles, and a home run.
Richland improves to 10-2. Columbia N/E falls to 5-7.
